Arpita took a risk, and started an independent publishing house called YODA PRESS 10 years ago. Her press has since then become known for its radical, progressive titles with error-free copy and excellent production values. She is also known for the avant-garde indie bookstore YODAKIN she ran in South Delhi's hip neighbourhood Hauz Khas Village, for four years. The store became known as a hub and haven for writers, readers and a whole range of literary-minded people. In her free time, Arpita likes to learn big words from her eight-year-old and teach them to her one-year-old, and when the kids are sleeping, she likes to write.
Having handled almost all aspects of publishing—from editing to finance and distribution—in his 41-year-strong career in the industry, Manas Saikia is a thorough man of books. He began his publishing career at Oxford University Press as a 19-year old novice representative, and went on to work with Springer, Narosa, British Council and Cambridge University Press. Together with Vinod Vashishtha, he founded Foundation Books , which became the exclusive distributor for CUP in South Asia and was later acquired by CUP UK. Having received several awards and accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to the Publishing industry, his curiosity about new markets, trends and opportunities is as keen as ever.
Manish has over two decades of experience in the world of newspapers, magazines and books. As far as the world of books goes, he considers himself lucky to have experimented in print, internet, mobile formats, and many Indian languages. He has set up and run publishing businesses and worked with leading brands such as The Times Group, Business Standard, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Popular Prakashan and Disney Publishing Worldwide. He also teaches media students as a visiting faculty.
Nishtha has worked for the last four years at YODA PRESS, where she joined as editorial trainee, and recently became Senior Editor. Known for her eye for detail, and the ability to sniff out a good manuscript, she is an asset for any quality-conscious publishing team.
Nishtha holds a Master's in English Literature from the premier Lady Shri Ram College of Delhi University.
Preeti Singh has had a diverse career in pharmaceuticals, executive search, pre-school education and publishing. She is passionate about books, content, stories and storytelling.
